Alaska Rocks It!

Little Alaska finished his Companion Dog title at the Birch Run show this past weekend. He even ended up with a second place (of 7) in Novice B. He is now Dreamweaver Northern Lights CD RA. What a fun dog he is to show in obedience. He is just so happy in the ring and runs along like it is a circus and he is the happy clown there to entertain everyone.  

Pretty little India will be coming to visit Polar this spring with the hope of making some very nice Samoyed puppies. India is almost finished as is Polar and these pups should be not only gorgeous but darned sweet! 

The Little Pom that Could

Little Alaska did well at  the show in Birch Run this weekend even though he had to do a sit stay between a Rottweiler and a Newfoundland! He only weighs about 6 pounds, but he didn't mind sitting for a minute and laying down for three minutes with me across the room. Good boy Alaska, that is leg #2 towards his Companion Dog title! Just one more to go.

Auggie on the Move

Mr. Auggie aka Solid Gold Vit Krigare has been out with handler Nickie King and has picked up six points including one major over the last two weekends! Congratulations to Auggie and his handler and his owners Penny Sorenson and Gregg Helm. He is now at 10 points and it won't be long before he is a champion.

New CHICs in Town

We are pleased to announce that we have two new CHIC qualified Samoyeds. Both Auggie (Solid Gold Vit Krigare CGC) and Clipper (Solid Gold Flying Cloud) are now officially listed as CHIC dogs on the OFA site. This means they have had an annual CERF exam, cardiac clearance, hips and DNA testing for PRA and Retinal Dysplasia associated with dwarfism in the breed. In addition, both have clear elbows. Although that is not a CHIC requirement for Samoyeds we do check elbows since some very nice dogs have had elbow dysplasia and it would be a shame to breed a dog that was affected and pass on this inherited problem.

Young Dog Sully

This young male is Sully. He is 17 months old and just starting to blossom into a fine show dog and sled dog. It is a bit unsettling to look at him because he is the spitting image of his great grandfather Kodiak. He truly is a beauty!

Sledding fun!

This weekend we were blessed to have some of our families who have our dogs come for a sledding outing. Everyone had a chance to go out on a sled if they wanted to and all the dogs got hooked up at some point. Later we enjoyed a hot lunch in the training building and watched some of the younger dogs play.

Novi is Always Good!

The AKC shows at Novi, Michigan are always good for Solid Gold Samoyeds. This year was no exception. Treasure was entered in obedience and not only finished her Companion Dog title but did it in style going 1st place with a very nice score of 192 1/2!  In addition, her son Polar went Winners Dog and Best of Winners on Saturday for a major win. He now has 10 points towards his championship!
